Clark Associates recalls nearly 160,000 restaurant chairs and barstools after reports of falls and injuries

Clark Associates recalls nearly 160,000 restaurant chairs and barstools after reports of falls and injuries

The chairs were sold nationwide and online primarily to restaurants, but members of the public could have purchased them as well.

WASHINGTON — More than 158,000 Clark Associates chairs and barstools are being voluntarily recalled after reports of the legs breaking, causing multiple falls and injuries.

The recall impacts the arm chair, armless side chair and barstool models of “Lancaster Table & Seating Powder-Coated Aluminum Outdoor Chairs and Barstools” with the 180 item number.

The chair legs can bend or break while being used, posing a fall hazard. There have been 36 reports of broken or bent chair legs, which ended up in four falls and three injuries. The extent of the injuries was not included in the recall.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission said the chairs were sold in various colors, including blue, brown, dark gray, silver, red, white, aqua, black, green, burgundy, yellow and orange.

Clark Pro and Clark National Accounts sold the chairs nationwide between April 2020 and October 2025. They were also sold online at Webstaurantstore.com for about $55 to $133.

While these retailers primarily sell equipment for restaurants, non-restaurant customers could purchase them through the online Webstaurant website.

A full list of item numbers to identify the recalled chairs can be found here. The item number can be found on order confirmation numbers, according to Clark. They are not seen on the actual chair.

Anyone with a recalled chair is urged to immediately stop using it and submit a refund request at the bottom of this website. Customers will need to provide their name, address, contact information, order number and other details. Refunds will be for the full cost of the chair and can come in store credit or a refund directly to the card used at the time of the purchase.

The recall says customers will have to write “RECALLED” in permanent marker or paint in a visible location and “dispose of the chair or barstool using your local waste handler” to qualify for a refund.
