The Color is Different My wife has been using this brand of cocoa powder for many years and she usually bought it from Sur La Table or other local store. She also once had a friend brought it back from France. This is the first time she bought it from Amazon. Immediately after she opened the container, she realized the color of cocoa powder is different from the ones she bought before. The chocolate cake made from it was lighter in color as she claimed. To prove her point, she bought it from Sur La Table online (because it was out of stock at local store) and compared it with one she bought from Amazon. (Picture) Both weight 310g. Container itself weights about 60g. so both net weight 250g. However, the one on the right (from Amazon) has higher volume and lighter in color. One on the left (from Sur La Table) has lower volume and darker in color. Both weight the same. I am not sure how this happened or why, because both products are still within expiration date and both are brand new and just opened. Can…

A Vast Improvement Hershey discontinued their Dutched Process Cocoa. After reading other reviews on this brand, I contacted them and found out this product is Dutched Processed even though it’s not mentioned on their can. This is a great improvement over the Hershey product. The chocolate tastes smoother and also smells like a richer cocoa. Hershey actually did us a favor and forced me to find a much better product.

Different than the first time I bought it… The first time I purchased this product it was a beautiful, rich reddish brown color. It had an intense smell and, when compared to regular cocoa powder just blew it away. Now on my second purchase, it looks just like regular cocoa. It smells like I remember, but it is a dull brown color. I’m not sure if this means it’s old or what. The cocoa was properly sealed when I got it so I don’t think it’s been tampered with. I’ll reconsider buying it from this site in the future.
