A Cultural Celebration Is Not Always a Federal Holiday
Halloween, Día de los Muertos, Diwali, and Hanukkah are not recurring U.S. federal holidays. Individual schools, organizations, and communities may still adjust their schedules.
The federal calendar names the second Monday in October Columbus Day. Many communities also recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
