1.5 million bottles of stain remover sold at Walmart, Target recalled for bacteria exposure risk

WASHINGTON — Around 1.5 million bottles of stain remover sold at several national retailers have been recalled because the products may contain bacteria. 

Thrasio issued the recall on Thursday for its Angry Orange Enzyme Stain Removers in Fresh Clean Scent and Orange Twist Scent sold in 24-oz, 32-oz and 1-gallon sizes. 

According to the recall, the stain removers may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. People with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions who are exposed to that bacteria could face a risk of serious infection, the recall warned. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections typically occur in health care settings and can be resistant to antibiotics, making them difficult to treat.

The recalled stain and odor removers were sold at Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Meijer, Staples, TJ Maxx and other major retailers nationwide and online at Amazon.com, AngryOrange.com and Chewy.com from March 2019 through Dec. 2025.

Some of the units were sold as a bundle with a UV light that attached to the spray bottle. 

If you have any of the recalled stain remover, stop using it and contact Thrasio for a full refund. To receive a refund, consumers should take a picture of the product with “recalled” and their initials written on it in marker and email the photo to productrecall@angryorange.com. You should then throw it out with household trash. Do not empty the product prior to disposal. Do not attempt to recycle the product bottle.

So far, there have been no injuries reported from this recall, the company said.
