LOS ANGELES — Jim Ward, the voice actor who brought characters from various animated projects to life, has died. He was 66.
Janice, Ward’s wife, told TMZ he died Wednesday, Dec. 10, morning from complications from advanced Alzheimer’s.
A Facebook post on his page, posted in 2021 and signed by Janice, previously stated he’d been put into a memory facility where he had “no memory, not from a year ago, a day ago, 10 minutes ago, 2 seconds ago.”
Ward voiced characters from popular animated shows like Doug Dimmadome from “The Fairly OddParents,” Professor X in the 2009 animated show “Wolverine and the X-Men,” Bertrand in “Danny Phantom,” and many more.
“The Fairly OddParents” creator Butch Hartman described Ward as a “good friend, colleague and voice actor extraordinaire,” in a post remembering him.
“He did the iconic voices of some of the most classic characters ever,” he wrote. “To say the voice over world has lost a giant is an understatement. Rest in peace, dear friend and thank you for blessing us with your incredible talent and charm. Love you, brother.”
Ward was also a popular voice actor in video games like 2017’s “Call of Duty: WWII;” “Red Dead Redemption II;” “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order;” “Ratchet & Clank;” “The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road” and the “Destroy All Humans!” series among many others, according to his IMDb.
He also co-hosted “The Stephanie Miller Show,” a radio talk show which began in 2005, for 13 years. He left in 2017, according to Deadline.
Host Miller said in a social media post Janice alerted her to the death in “one of the saddest messages” she had ever received.
She described Ward as “beyond brilliance.”
