Six Flags has opened its first park outside North America, featuring Falcons Flight, a record-breaking coaster that reaches 150 mph and towers 640 feet high.

WASHINGTON — Thrill seekers have a new record-breaking destination to add to their bucket lists.

Six Flags just officially opened Six Flags Qiddiya City on Wednesday, Dec. 31, marking the company’s first theme park built outside North America. The park is located about 40 minutes from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and is part of the larger Qiddiya City development.

The park is home to five world-record attractions, including Falcons Flight, which is now the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in the world. The ride reaches speeds of about 150 mph, climbs roughly 640 feet into the air, or about the height of a 60-story building, and stretches 2.6 miles. The ride lasts three minutes.

“It’s three launches, there’s a real adrenaline rush,” Neil Dwyer, vice president of operations for Six Flags Qiddiya City, said during the park’s opening ceremony livestream. “We start a little bit slower just to get you warmed up, then we’re going to take you up the side of the cliff, and we’re going to bring you back down, then over the camel back, a huge structure, and straight back into the station.”

In addition to Falcons Flight, the park features 27 other rides, including more record setting attractions, like Sirocco Tower, the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower; Iron Rattler, the world’s tallest tilt coaster; Spitfire, the tallest inverting triple-launch coaster; and Gyrospin, the world’s tallest pendulum ride.

There’s also attractions for the whole family, including a carousel, bumper cars and an interactive dark ride called Enchanted Greenhouse.

The park is separated into six themed lands, creating a notably more immersive experience than most Six Flags parks.

“The minute you come to the park, the music, the theming, the facades, the attractions, the employee uniforms, everything will be themed and will create that more immersive environment which you just won’t find at another Six Flags park to this level,”  Six Flags Qiddiya City President Brain Machamer said during the opening ceremony.

For thrill seekers looking to get a ride on the world-record attractions, prices for adults start at about $85, with discounted pricing for children.
