The recalled car seats were sold nationwide in the United States and Canada.

WASHINGTON — More than 74,000 car seats are under recall due to a possible safety concern when used in rear-facing mode, safety regulators announced.

Evenflo issued a voluntary recall for certain models of its All4One car seats. The company said it initiated the recall after testing showed that the car seat, when used rear-facing, “may shift from one recline position to another during a crash.”

Evenflo said that while the issue does not “negatively impact protection for a child” secured in the seat, there might be a risk of pinching if a nearby passenger places their hands or fingers in the reclining mechanism when the seat is in rear-facing mode.

To date, Evenflo said there have been no reported injuries related to the recall.

The recalled car seats were manufactured between January 2022 and June 2024. The recalled car seats were sold nationwide and in Canada.

“The safety and well-being of children and families who trust our products is our highest priority, and we are taking this step out of an abundance of caution,” the company said on its website.

Can I still use the car seat?

According to the company, consumers can continue to use the car seat, including in its rear-facing mode, as long as anyone sitting next to the car seat keeps their hands and fingers away from the recline mechanism.

To further mitigate the risk of pinching, Evenflo said consumers can fold a small towel inside the recline mechanism to fill in the open space.

How to check if i have a recalled car seat?

Consumers can check the model number and manufacturer date on the label on the back or bottom of the car seat to see whether they have an impacted model. Additionally, Evenflo said it would contact customers who have registered the car seat with them.

Those who have moved or are uncertain whether they completed a registration can complete a new registration on the Evenflo website.

Evenflo will provide a replacement car seat at no additional cost. Those who have registered the car seat will be contacted with the next steps.
