WASHINGTON — Lily Collins will play Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming movie centered on the making of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Collins, who stars in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris,” confirmed the casting news on Instagram on Monday. She said the role had been a long time coming.
“It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel …,” Collins wrote in her caption.
Fans have long compared Collins to the Hollywood icon as she has often channeled Hepburn’s style throughout the years.
“Lily Collins has been manifesting this for all these years … Finally we’ll get to see her as Audrey Hepburn!” one user on X said following the news of Collins’ casting.
According to Deadline, the Netflix film is based on Sam Wasson’s bestselling book “Fifth Avenue, 5 AM.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.” The book is the first ever complete account of the making of the 1961 classic film.
“Dickinson” creator Alena Smith has been tapped to adapt the film, which will feature other characters including Truman Capote, Edith Head and director Blake Edwards, Deadline reported. The movie will be developed by Collins’ own production company, Case Study Films.
Collins also reposted some of her old Instagram posts where she references Hepburn.
“Channeling Audrey Hepburn today (and everyday). Celebrating the silver screen queen and one of my biggest inspiration’s birthdays with a @TatlerUK#TBT…,” her reshared 2017 post read.
“Kicking off the first #FBF of Women’s History Month with the ultimate muse, forever …,” she said in another post from 2021.
