GREENWOOD, Ind. — A World War II veteran about to turn 100 years old says his near-daily workouts are just part of what keeps him going.
William Lawrence works out a couple of times a week at the Community Life Center at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. In celebration of his 100th birthday, the center threw him an early birthday party on Tuesday, March 31.
Lawrence can usually be found on an exercise bike or some other machine, lifting or working his legs.
According to Lawrence, it’s not just the working out that keeps him sharp, but also eating “potatoes, cornbread and beans.”
Lawrence turns 100 on April 6.
