DECATUR, Ga. — What looked like an ordinary shopping day at a Walmart in Decatur quickly transformed into something much more meaningful.
Inside the North Decatur Street store, actor Skyh Black, television personality Kelli Ferrell, and producer Two Lewis teamed up with community organization Food in the City to surprise families with an unexpected wave of holiday generosity.
Working alongside Walmart store leadership, the group moved through the aisles personally connecting with shoppers, handing out gift cards to cover purchases and filling carts with toys, games, and essentials. Families were invited to choose what they needed most from action figures and games to smart watches and gaming systems turning the store into a joyful, free-flowing hub of giving.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday, and it’s truly rewarding to give back especially when you see the smiles and feel the hugs from the kids and their families,” Black said.
The generosity extended beyond the store’s walls. The group stepped outside to surprise passing drivers with gift cards, drawing curious smiles and emotional reactions from those who never expected to be part of the moment.
“Through my charity initiatives, I’ve done several activations this holiday season. I love pouring into Atlanta my hometown,” said Lewis.
For Ferrell, the night carried special meaning. “As a single mom of four girls, I love being in a position to pour into other single mothers who are doing the best they can,” she shared.
As the evening wrapped up, the trio paused to take photos with families and reflect on the true meaning of the season before surprising one mother with an additional $500. Stylist and influencer Tameka Foster also joined the effort, helping meet and encourage families along the way.
By the end, the store had become more than a place to shop it became a reminder that sometimes the most powerful holiday moments happen when kindness shows up unexpectedly, right in the middle of everyday life.
