Atlanta United Dominates Orlando 3-0
Pineda Earns First Win
Mercedes-Benz Stadium – It was a night of firsts for Atlanta United. Defender George Campbell scored his first career goal in MLS, while Gonzalo Pineda earned his first win as manager.
Campbell scored the game winner in the 25’ on a beautiful assist from Marcelino Moreno. Moreno sent a cross into the box that Campbell headed in after a long run. It was Moreno’s fourth assist of the season.
Ezequiel Barco hit a blistering cross on a free kick that Orlando’s Daryl Dike mistakenly headed into the net, resulting in an own goal. This was set up by Marcelleno Moreno drawing a yellow card foul.
Atlanta tacked on a third goal in the second half. Barco dribbled across the box and found the back of the net. Brooks Lennon was credited with his fifth assist of the year.
Atlanta’s attack look crisp and fresh, scoring two goals in the first half. Meanwhile the defense was stout. Brad Guzan recorded his sixth shutout of the year.
Orlando entered the match having not lost in their last seven, winning three and tying four.
Atlanta’s next match is Wednesday, September 15th at home against FC Cincinnati.
