Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Two teams entered the match heading in different directions. Atlanta United had won 9 of its last 12 matches. Meanwhile, New York FC had only one win in its last nine matches. Both are in contention for a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta led most of the game. Marcelino Moreno scored the early goal in the 17’. He was set up perfectly with a beautiful assist by Luiz Araujo. It was Moreno’s ninth goal of the season, one off the team lead. It was Araujo’s third assist.

Atlanta would hold that lead until the 90’. An Atlanta foul set up a free kick just outside the box. NYFC’s Gudmundur Thorarinsson buried the kick in the back of the net.

Atlanta next returns to action at home on Wednesday, October 27th to face Inter Miami.
