Gutman Scores Last Minute Goal
Atlanta Latinos Magazine – It was a must win match for Atlanta United. Having only one win in the last eight matches, Atlanta stood in 12 th place in the Eastern Conference, on the outside looking in on a playoff spot.
Atlanta took the early lead. Ronald Cisneros found the back of the net in the 23 rd minute. It was his
team leading seventh goal of the season. Both Luiz Araujo and Caleb Wiley were credited with an assist.
It was Wiley’s first ever assist in his MLS career. Seattle would respond in the second half. Cristian Roldan notched his fourth goal of the season in the 68 th minute.
The score remained tied 1-1 heading to stoppage time. In the final minute, Andrew Gutman drilled a laser beam past the goalkeeper and into the right corner of the net. It was Gutman’s first goal for Atlanta United. The assist was credited to Marcelino Moreno. In its fifth attempt, Atlanta United finally earned its first ever victory over the Seattle Sounders. It was an especially satisfying win for Atlanta’s manager Gonzalo Pineda. He served as an assistant coach with Seattle from 2017 to 2021, when he was hired to be Atlanta’s manager.
Atlanta’s next match is away against FC Cincinnati next Saturday, August 13 th .
