Free electronics recycling event set for Earth Week at Lenox Square

Georgia residents and businesses are invited to recycle old electronics for free during an Earth Week event in Buckhead.

Georgia Natural Gas is hosting the event Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the dining pavilion at Lenox Square. 11Alive is a proud co-sponsor. 

The event is part of the company’s annual Earth Week efforts and marks its 16th year offering free electronics recycling to the community.

Organizers say people can drop off a wide range of unwanted electronics, including:

• Cell phones
• Computers and monitors
• Televisions
• Printers
• Radios and fax machines

Items will be handled by eWaste ePlanet, a certified recycling and data destruction company that follows environmental safety standards.

Volunteers will be on site to remove items directly from vehicles to help speed up the process.

Georgia Natural Gas said the event highlights its focus on reducing environmental impact. The company says its customers have helped offset nearly 1 billion pounds of carbon emissions through its Greener Life program, which allows customers to pay a small fee to offset their natural gas use.

“Simple, everyday choices can have meaningful, long-term environmental impacts,” said Mike Braswell, president and CEO of Georgia Natural Gas.

Company leaders say recycling electronics helps keep harmful materials out of landfills and protects the environment.
