Georgia woman receives deal to grow her business on ‘Shark Tank’ TV show

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A Georgia woman appeared on the show ‘Shark Tank’ and received a deal to continue growing her popular holiday business. 

Kate Stewart, founder of Bauble Stockings, shared with 11Alive that she’s always wanted to be on the show.

“I actually have been applying for seven years,” she said. “I had gotten further in the rounds. Two of the times I’ve gotten past the first round,” she said. “Seventh time is the charm.”

Her local business, Bauble Stockings, landed a deal with Barbara Corcoran this week on the show.

“Bauble stockings are ornament-sized needlepoint stockings, and they are based on my family’s tradition, where after all of your gifts have been opened, you go to the tree, you get your Bauble stocking, and the final gift of Christmas, or a clue to it is in the stocking,” she said. 

The stockings are already sold in stores like Nieman Marcus and Saks. Stewart said the business also employs women for fair trade in Haiti. 

“So, our goal is to keep expanding, keep creating jobs,” she explained. “Our team is amazing. These are all hand stitched needlepoint, and I’m, I’m very happy our team earns the same as a mid-level Haitian nurse or teacher.”

For anyone who wants to start and grow a business, Stewart had a simple message: You can do it. 

“If I can do it, you can do it,” she said. “But always follow up. If somebody doesn’t respond to your emails, send them a second email. People are busy. If somebody tells you no, that usually just means no for right now. Follow up with them later. You just have to believe in yourself and find the people who believe in you, and you’ll succeed.”
