Goo Goo Dolls founder, guitarist and frontman John Rzeznik is battling pneumonia, the band announced Sunday.
WASHINGTON — The Goo Goo Dolls canceled their remaining Canadian tour dates, citing John Rzeznik’s battle with pneumonia.
The band made the announcement on social media Sunday.
“Unfortunately, we must cancel the remaining dates on our Canadian Tour. John was diagnosed with pneumonia and has not fully recovered,” the band said. “We are very disappointed and can’t wait to get back to Canada as soon as possible. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.”
The health issues first surfaced Monday, when the band canceled a show at GFL Memorial Gardens Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. They cited an “illness” for the cancellation. Then they canceled a Wednesday show at Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, again because of an illness.
Another cancellation came Thursday, this time for a date at TD Coliseum in Hamilton. That’s when the Goo Goo Dolls revealed that Rzeznik was dealing with pneumonia.
Goo Goo Dolls said Saturday they would perform that night in London, Ontario. Then came Sunday’s announcement, canceling the remaining tour dates across Canada.
The final date on the Canadian leg of the tour is April 11 in Moncton, New Brunswick. After that, the Goo Goo Dolls have a festival in Texas, then one show in Mexico before a summer tour through the states.
