Nearly a dozen streaming services will carry live coverage of the Artemis II mission’s splashdown off the coast of San Diego.
WASHINGTON — To the moon and back.
Friday evening will be a live homecoming for the spacecraft Artemis II and its crew of four astronauts.
It’s what some experts consider the most dangerous part of the mission, as Orion’s four crewmembers prepare to return from the furthest distance any human has ever traveled away from planet Earth.
Where to watch Artemis II splashdown
NASA projects the Artemis II crew will splash down at around 8:07 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (5:07 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time) on Friday. Upon landing, the crew will find themselves in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of San Diego, after a nine-day journey in space.
In preparation for the splashdown, nearly a dozen streaming services will have coverage available on their platforms, beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT / 3:30 p.m. PDT. Around that time, the crew will undergo several steps to ensure a safe splashdown, including crew module separation, entry into Earth’s atmosphere and a parachute cut.
