ATLANTA — A health care giant is spending big money to plant a flag near Downtown Atlanta — but is silent on exactly what it has planned for the area.
Kaiser Permanente has purchased approximately 7 acres in the Summerhill neighborhood for $31.5 million, according to a Jan. 26 news release. It described the transaction as a “first step” to building something that will “improve access to care,” but it’s unclear what that will be.
The California-based health care and health plan provider did not offer details about the project when asked for additional information. Regardless of what is eventually built — whether it be a primary care medical office like Kaiser Permanente has elsewhere in Georgia, or something bigger — it would likely be welcomed with open arms.
