The recall said the rearview image may not display when in reverse and “reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”

WASHINGTON — Porsche, the luxury German automobile manufacturer, recalled roughly 173,538 cars due to the rearview camera not working properly. 

The recall was issued Dec. 19, 2025 but notifications about the recall are expected to be mailed to impacted owners Feb. 16, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 

The rearview image may not display as intended when in reverse and “reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” according to the recall. 

Recalled Porsche models:

  • 911, 2020-2025
  • Cayenne, 2019-2025
  • Cayenne E-Hybrid, 2019-2025
  • Panamera, 2024-2025
  • Panamera E-Hybrid, 2025 
  • Taycan, 2020-2025

Dealers will offer a software update free of charge to fix the issue when it’s available. Notifications will be mailed to impacted owners Feb. 16 and another letter will be sent once the fix is available for their cars. 

Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s number for this recall is ASB2. 

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 19, 2026.
