Georgia Power’s outage map indicates an outage impacting 1,700+ customers around Peachtree Street, Juniper Street and Piedmont Avenue in Midtown.
ATLANTA — A power outage is impacting more than 5,000 customers in Midtown Atlanta on Friday morning, according to Georgia Power’s outage map.
The map indicates an estimated restoration time of 10:15 a.m.
Its impacting a corridor including parts of Peachtree Street, Juniper Street and Piedmont Avenue from around 10th Street at its north end as far south as roughly the Downtown Connector.
It’s not clear at this time what caused the outage.
UDPATE: This zone has narrowed, with the number of customers impacted down to about 1,700.
Georgia Power provided this statement:
The outage was caused by an equipment failure, and our crews are currently on-site making repairs. Thanks to our smart grid technology, we expect to remotely restore service to more than half of affected customers soon.
