To keep residents safe, GDOT’s travel advisory remains in place, urging drivers to stay off the roads as crews continue their treatment plan.
GEORGIA, USA — Some spots in metro Atlanta are still looking wintry with light ice on the roads as crews continue work to clear the roadways on Monday morning.
As part of the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) treatment plan, plows and additional materials were deployed to assist with combating the weather. Crews have added 115,000 gallons of brine and are applying about 1,350 tons of aggregate and 450 tons of salt to priority routes in the hardest hit areas, according to GDOT. GDOT said they addressed all critical infrastructure north and northeast of I-20, including I-85 and GA-400.
As of Sunday, GDOT has closed all Georgia Express Lanes until further notice. This closure includes I-75 Northwest Corridor Express Lanes, I-75 South metro Express Lanes and both Express Lanes facilities.
Along with roads, ice remains a major concern on trees and power lines following the winter storm that hit northern Georgia on Saturday night.
Roads in northeast Georgia counties that were affected the most include Forsyth County, Athens-Clarke County, Hall County and White County. Georgia traffic cameras indicate that roadways in Habersham County, Lumpkin County and Rabun County also still have some icy patches, including near Tallulah Falls.

Below is a look at some road conditions in northeast Georgia on Monday morning, according to the GDOT traffic map:
- A tree limb on SR 356 has closed all lanes in both directions on Northview Drive.
- A tree limb on SR 197 has closed all lanes in both directions past Shoal Creek Road.
- A tree limb on SR 15 Loop closed all lanes in both directions at SR 15.
