In Thinking Mathematically, Sixth Edition, Bob Blitzer’s distinctive and relatable voice motivates students from diverse backgrounds and majors, engaging them in the math through compelling, real-world applications. Understanding that most students in a liberal arts math course are not math majors, and are unlikely to take another math class, Blitzer has provided tools in every chapter to help them master the material with confidence, while also showing them the beauty and fun of math. The variety of topics and flexibility of sequence make this text appropriate for a one- or two-term course in liberal arts mathematics or general education mathematics.

Thinking Mathematically (5th Ed.) – An Unbiased Review can’t work math. It scares me to death. I was one of the unfortunate people who, as a child, was taught math using the “New Moden Math Concept”. Subsequently, like most who had the misfortune of suffering the course of instruction, the basics were sort of skipped over while we all learned “Base 108”, “Base Pi” Base Chevrolet”, and all the other crud we’d never use in the real world. As a result I am, therefore, mathematically illiterate.I have needed one (1) course to complete my…
Lots of explanation and good to have for higher level courses, too For a textbook, this was pretty decent. I rented it and was impressed with the state it arrived in! There is an extensive amount of explanation in each section, as well as detailed answers to most of the problems in the back. I decided to keep mine as it will come in very handy with future, higher levels of math courses.
Great college math/probability and statistics book! This book was recommended for my college math class. I bought it loose leaf so that I wouldn’t have to carry around a huge book, but it was actually a lot smaller than I thought. Great information with lots of practice questions. Definitely would recommend it for people who need examples and practice tests to learn.
