Mascots Tina and Milo are stoat siblings inspired by Cortina d’Ampezzo and Milan, representing the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
WASHINGTON — The 2026 Olympics are officially underway, and the mascots for this year’s Winter Games are drumming up cheer from the mountains to Milan.
Introducing Tina and Milo, two stoats whose names are inspired by the two primary locations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina.
Tina, the lighter-colored stoat, represents the Olympic Winter Games. Milo, her younger brother with darker fur, is the face of the Paralympic Winter Games.
Organizers describe the siblings as symbols of a “contemporary, vibrant and dynamic Italian spirit,” with a love of sports, the outdoors and having fun.
According to the mascots’ official backstories, Tina was born in Italy among the mountains, where green summers give way to snowy winters. She is passionate about art and music and believes in the power of beauty. Milo, meanwhile, was born without one paw, but is described as turning his difference into a strength through creativity and determination.
What are stoats?
Stoats are small mustelids, a part of the weasel family, and are closely related to animals like otters and ferrets. They are also known as ermines or short-tailed weasels.
Some stoats that live in colder climates change their coats from brown to bright white in winter to camouflage with snow. That seasonal contrast is reflected in the mascots, with Tina wearing the lighter “winter” look and Milo sporting the darker “summer” coat.
