The original mini tote bags, which came out in 2024, went viral and were resold for hundreds of dollars online.
WASHINGTON — Trader Joe’s viral spring-themed mini tote bags are headed back to shelves this March.
A spokesperson for the popular grocery store chain confirmed that the spring-themed bags that debut last year are coming back by mid-March. The time frame for when the mini tote bags will arrive at stores will depend on location, a Trader Joe’s spokesperson said in an email statement.
The canvas bags, which retail for $2.99, come in pastel shades of pink, purple, mint and blue. These colors were first available last spring but Trader Joe’s mini totes went viral in 2024.
“When we introduced our Mini Canvas Totes, we were so pleasantly surprised by their rapturous reception that we’re bringing in even more Mini Totes, this time in a series of Pastel shades to herald the beginning of spring,” the grocery store said in a press release last year.
Trader Joe’s describes the tote bags as “ideal for smaller shopping trips — the kind where you’re just picking up something for lunch, or grabbing those items you forgot the first time around.”

In 2024, the launch of the mini tote bags spiraled as videos shared on social media showed crowds of customers waiting to get their hands on the highly-coveted tote bags. The bags were originally released in red, blue, green and yellow.
“Our Mini Canvas Tote Bags certainly sold more quickly than we anticipated,” Nakia Rohde, a spokesperson for Trader Joe’s, said at the time. “Before we had the opportunity to promote them in any way, customers across the country found them at their neighborhood Trader Joe’s.”
The spring colors made waves last year with third-party reseller sites like eBay selling a pink bag listed at $999.99.
