Warming centers opening in metro Atlanta as temperatures drop as low as the teens

GEORGIA, USA — Some warming centers are opening up in metro Atlanta as cold air moves in causing freezing weather. 

11Alive’s Weather Team said temperatures on Sunday night will be in the teens and have issued a Weather Impact Alert through Tuesday morning. 

Some shelters offering an escape from the cold are listed below:

Individuals in Hampton can visit the 24/7 warming center listed below. This location will be open from Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. until Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 12 p.m.

Centers will be open beginning on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 6 a.m. until Tuesday, Dec. 16.  Frontline Response International will provide 24-hour operations during the Sunday activation, including hot meals, cots, transportation and case management services.

• Warming centers open up in Gwinnett County when temperatures reach 35 degrees and below. The centers will be 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for all stations listed below:

  • Shorty Howell Park Activity Building
