Cinemark wants movie-goers to get creative for National Popcorn Day.
WASHINGTON — Cinemark wants moviegoers to get creative for its upcoming “Bring Your Own Bucket” event on National Popcorn Day.
The promotion, which returns this year on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19, allows customers to spend $5 plus tax to fill any container up to 400 oz. with popcorn. The possibilities range from purses, hats and yes, even Lowe’s 5-gallon buckets.
This year, Cinemark is partnering with Lowe’s for National Popcorn Day on Jan. 19, and customers who bring in a blue 5-gallon bucket from Lowe’s will also receive a free medium popcorn with any medium fountain drink purchase.
Cinemark will, upon request, provide complimentary food-grade liners for those who bring in the Lowe’s bucket, as it is not food-safe or designed for direct contact with food. The offer applies to regular or kettle corn and is available at select locations.
The offer is available for a one-time fill-up per guest, meaning no free refills. It is also not valid for mobile ordering or third-party delivery, according to the terms and agreements. Cinemark said all buckets must be cleaned and sanitized before use.
Cinemark warns it could refuse any buckets deemed as unsanitary or a potential health risk.
