WASHINGTON — As the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics get underway, many fans already are looking ahead to the next Olympic spotlight — the Summer Games returning to the United States for the first time in more than three decades.
Where are the next Summer Olympics in 2028?
The next Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, with the 2028 Summer Olympics scheduled to run from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 30, 2028.
Officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, the Los Angeles Olympics will mark the city’s third time hosting the Games, following previous editions in 1932 and 1984.
With more than 40 sports, roughly 800 events, and an expected 15,000 athletes, the 2028 Olympic Games will use a mix of iconic venues across Southern California, including SoFi Stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. Select events will be hosted outside the state.
The Opening Ceremony is set for July 14, 2028, at SoFi Stadium, which will be transformed into the largest swimming venue in Olympic history, NBC Olympics said.
The Games will also introduce five new sports: baseball/softball, lacrosse, cricket, flag football and squash.
