The Georgia DOE said 87 schools were placed on the 2024–25 Targeted Support and Improvement list due to consistently underperforming student subgroups.
ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Education released its annual list of schools that have made significant progress on improvement plans and graduation rates under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
Four schools exited Comprehensive Support and Improvement status after raising their graduation rates above 67%, the department said. Those schools are:
- Perry Career Academy–Eula Wilburn Ponds Perry Center for Learning in Clayton County
- Cross Keys High School in DeKalb County
- Independence High School in Fulton County
- Dodge County Achievement Center in Dodge County
An additional 55 schools exited Targeted Support and Improvement status after meeting improvement benchmarks, while 43 Comprehensive Support schools were recognized for making academic progress. To earn that designation, schools had to post a 5% increase in content mastery scores and score at least 80 in another accountability category.

Because Comprehensive Support schools were identified in 2024 using 2023 data, only Targeted Support schools were newly identified this year. The department said 87 schools were placed on the 2024–25 Targeted Support and Improvement list due to consistently underperforming student subgroups.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods said the designations are intended to provide schools with additional support rather than serve as labels.
