MACON, Ga. — The National Weather Service (NWS) is continuing to survey storm damage and confirm tornadoes that touched down in Central Georgia.

Shortly after confirming five new tornadoes that touched down on Thursday’s storms, the NWS confirmed three tornadoes touched down in Central Georgia during Monday’s severe storms.

They said that two EF0 tornadoes touched down in Upson County and an EF0 tornado touched down in North Macon.

According to the NWS reports, these three tornadoes bring the total amount up to 11 that touched down in Central Georgia within five days. The EF0 tornado was also the second tornado that touched down in North Macon within five days.

The Macon tornado was the strongest storm that touched down on Monday. The NWS said it hit peak winds of 85 miles per hour and lasted 1.94 miles.

They said the damage started east of Forsyth Road and Vineville Avenue and caused damage in neighborhoods along Pierce Avenue near Northwoods Academy. They said it uprooted trees and caused damage to siding, carports and gutters in the homes in the area.

They said the tornado started around 7:58 a.m. and lifted around 8:05 a.m. near the Ocmulgee River.

The NWS said that both Upson County tornadoes hit at least 75 miles per hour, with one getting up to 80 miles per hour.

The 80 mph tornado, which the NWS said initially touched down around Hendricks Church Road, snapped a few small pine trees and uprooted 20 to 30 trees in private farm land.

They said the tornado continued past Ellerbeetown Road, towards McCard Road and crossed Womble Creek, leaving tree damage in its wake. It also caused uprooted trees along Thurston School Road and minor tree and outhouse damage near Butts and Pickard Road before lifting.

They said the tree lasted 3.02 miles and started around 7 a.m. before ending at 7:03 a.m.

The other tornado touched down about 20 minutes later at 7:20 a.m., according to the NWS. They said the tornado started near Grays Chapel Road, uprooting and snapping trees. It continued until it weakened near Israel Creek around 7:26 a.m. and lasted 1.65 miles.
