The Australian actor rose to fame on “McLeod’s Daughters,” appearing in nearly 180 episodes before later working in U.S. TV and film.
WASHINGTON — Australian actress Rachael Carpani, known for her work in “McLeod’s Daughters” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” has died. She was 45.
In a statement shared on Instagram Sunday, Carpani’s family wrote that she “unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness” on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Carpani appeared in nearly 180 episodes of the Australian drama series “McLeod’s Daughters,” where she starred as Jodi Fountain from 2001 to 2009. She became so well known for the role in her home country that she said in a 2024 interview with 7News that she moved to the United States to avoid being known only as “Jodi from ‘McLeod’s Daughters.’”
Carpani also had roles in “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Rachels,” “If There Be Thorns” and “The Glades,” as well as “Triangle” alongside Liam Hemsworth and Ben Affleck’s 2020 basketball movie “The Way Back.”
In 2024, Carpani shared on Instagram that she underwent emergency surgery for an undisclosed reason, writing, “And YES I am PERFECTLY fine … RECOVERED … back to normal.”
The family said a private funeral will be held Dec. 19, adding that no further statements will be made and they are requesting privacy at this time.
