
McCain Foods USA Inc. initiated a voluntary recall of two frozen potato products that are not sold directly to consumers.
WASHINGTON D.C., DC — An Idaho company has voluntarily recalled tater tots in 26 states due to “clear hard plastic fragments,” according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
McCain Foods USA recalled almost 39,000 cases of frozen tater tots.
Two types of frozen tater tots are under recall:
- Ore-Ida Tater Tots shaped potatoes, item number OIF00215A, packaged in 30-pound clear unlabeled poly bags with batch codes 1005479808, 1005477924, 1005478883, 1005480444, 1005480875, 1005481627 and 1005481770.
- Sysco Imperial Potato Tater Barrel, item number 1000006067, packaged in 6/5-pound clear unlabeled poly bags with batch codes 1005482717, 1005483735, 1005484702, 1005485462 and 1005485660.
A spokesperson for Kraft Heinz said the Ore-Ida products were sold to restaurants and not sold directly to consumers. Sysco is a wholesale restaurant food distributor.
The recalled tater tots were distributed in the following states:
- Alaska
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Florida
- Hawaii
- Iowa
- Idaho
- Illinois
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Nebraska
- New Mexico
- North Dakota
- Nevada
- Oregon
- Texas
- Utah
- Washington state
- Wisconsin
The recall was initiated on Dec. 3, 2025. The FDA classified the recall as Class II on Jan. 6, 2026.
