UGA students enjoyed sledding on campus.

ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia students were out enjoying the snow that fell in Athens on Saturday. Several students found hills on campus to sled down, like the one outside Brumby Hall.

While sleds may have been in short supply, creativity was not. Students used everything from cardboard boxes to pool floats to laundry crates to get down the hill.

The sled hills may have been busy, but several other parts of campus, such as the libraries and the student center, closed early due to the weather.

Saturday evening, the University announced it expects to run as normal on Monday.

An 11Alive crew noticed that some of the roads in Downtown had become icy by evening.

The Communications Director for Athens-Clarke County Unified Government said staff reported having to plow most roads in the Winterville area and were sanding and salting them all day. He said crews will continue to sand through the night.

As for any issues caused by the storm, the Communications Director said there were some accidents and a water main break. He said the break did not affect service and that the area affected was minimal.  Crews were able to repair it.
