The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest musical events in the world, with about 1 out of every 3 Americans tuning in.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican superstar who has taken the world by storm over the past year, took to America’s largest stage Sunday for the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

The Latin star, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, performed for millions of viewers for a full 13 minutes. The performance contained many nods to his Puerto Rican heritage and had everything from a wedding to appearances from popular Latin celebrities dancing along to his music.

He brought Latin culture to the main stage, having people dressed in linens and surrounded by palms.

He opened the performance to “Tití Me Preguntó” off his album “Un Verano Sin Ti.” He also performed songs like “NUEVAYoL” and “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” off his Grammy-winning album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” He worked to fit  a 10-year career into the 13-minute performance.

Lady Gaga briefly sang “Die for a Smile” with a Latin twist. Ricky Martin also performed in Spanish.

Big names from Latin culture like Cardi B, Pedro Pascal, Jessica Alba were also seen dancing under the set piece depicting a market.

At one point, he addressed the camera head on and, in Spanish, encouraged people to believe in themselves and thanked those who believed in him.

He gave a child one of his Grammys while the child watched his Grammy winning speech on a television.

The halftime show performance comes just a week after Ocasio added another three Grammys to his collection — including winning album of the year for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” It was the first time a Spanish-language album has taken home the top prize.

Celimar Rivera Cosme translated the all Spanish language show into Puerto Rican Sign Language, a first in NFL history.

How much do Super Bowl halftime performers get paid?

The NFL may cover travel costs for artists, but maintains its long-standing tradition of not paying performers for the pregame and halftime shows beyond the minimum union scale requirements. Under union agreements, this typically amounts to around $1,000 per day for rehearsals and the performance itself. That means no splashy appearance fees for these major artists.

However, the real value of the Super Bowl halftime show lies in its unprecedented exposure. The 2024 performance headlined by Usher drew massive viewership, continuing the trend set by Rihanna’s 2023 show, which attracted 115 million viewers. For artists, this exposure typically translates into significant increases in music sales and streaming numbers.

Bad Bunny is no stranger to the Super Bowl stage, having previously performed alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at the 2020 game.
