ATLANTA — A restaurant in Atlanta closed its doors to customers at one location on Wednesday in order to prepare meals for hundreds of TSA agents.
“Grecian Gyro is proudly feeding all TSA Agents!,” said the restaurant on its Facebook page on Wednesday. “We’re dedicating the morning and part of the afternoon to preparing hot, fresh meals for them.”
TSA agents are working without pay due to the partial government shutdown, which started on Feb. 14. The General Manager at Hartsfield-Jackson, Rickey Smith, also said they are seeing about a 36% call out rate for TSA agents as the shutdown continues.
According to the restaurant’s Facebook post, workers from its Midtown, Forest Park and Hapeville locations came together to help package the meals. The Forest Park location was closed until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday so the volunteers could prepare the meals.

“What an absolute honor. We’re forever grateful for this amazing team and their hard work. We would be nothing without them. Help us show them all the love!,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page.
