A senior at Chapel Hill High did not survive an early-morning crash over the weekend in Douglas County, GSP and the school system said.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglas County high school senior lost her life in a crash just after prom this weekend, the school district and Georgia State Patrol said.
“Families were notified this weekend and a crisis team is on campus today,” the Douglas County School System said in a brief statement.
GSP said it happened on Saturday morning just after 3 a.m. on Chapel Hill Road and Rosemont Drive. The state patrol described a Mercedes “traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve” and then veering off the road. The car “struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned multiple times,” GSP said.
An 18-year-old identified as Patience Price was “believed to have been unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle.” She did not survive, GSP said.
She was a Chapel Hill High School senior, Douglas County Schools said.
The driver had “only minor visible injuries” and a rear seat passenger was taken to Grady Hospital with injuries described as serious.
The driver showed no signs of impairment, GSP added.
