The lone goal of the game came in the 65’. Jonathan Mensah headed in a corner kick, with assists credited to both Marlon Hairston Lucas Zelarayán. It was Mensah’s first goal of the year, and Hairston’s first assist. That was all that we needed to secure the win.
Form held today. It figured to be a low scoring affair. Collectively the two teams had 29 goals in 28 matches.
Columbus had not lost in its past five matches, and only once in its last nine. On the other hand, Atlanta United was winless in its last nine matches.

The story once again was the international absences. Atlanta was missing most of its starting defensive backline in George Bello, Brad Guzan, and Miles Robinson. Ezequiel Barco also missed the match as he represents his home country Argentina in the Olympics. On the other side, Columbus was missing one of its top players and second leading goal scorer, Gyasi Zardes.
