The “It Ends With Us” writer shared that she is finishing radiation and said her cancer was removed and did not require chemotherapy.

WASHINGTON — Bestselling author Colleen Hoover has revealed that she is undergoing cancer treatment, sharing the news in an Instagram story this week.

Hoover, known for hit novels including “It Ends With Us” and “Verity,” posted a photo Monday showing herself in a hospital gown and wrote, “Second to last day of radiation!” She added, “I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @texas.oncology but they’ve been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them.”

The author has not disclosed what type of cancer she has, however, she previously addressed her diagnosis in a Facebook post Friday. Hoover explained that genetic testing showed the cancer did not come from family history and was not linked to HPV or hormonal causes.

“This means it was more than likely environmental/lifestyle, which is lack of exercise, poor diet and stress,” Hoover wrote. “I’m happy and grateful to be alive but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating.”

She then joked, “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably real mad about it.”

The 45-year-old is one of the most successful authors of the past decade, with multiple titles topping bestseller lists and gaining massive followings on social media.

According to People, Hoover initially revealed her diagnosis on a private Facebook fan page back in December, addressing how she delayed “recurring health issues” while filming the movie adaptation of her book “Reminders of Him” in Canada. After returning, she received her diagnosis. She has said the cancer was removed and that she required radiation, but did not need chemotherapy.

In October, Hoover announced she would miss promotional events for the film adaptation of her book “Regretting You” due to an “unavoidable surgery” that would prevent her from traveling.

Despite her health challenges, Hoover remains active professionally. Her latest novel, “Woman Down,” was released on Tuesday. The thriller follows an author who retreats to a secluded cabin for inspiration before a detective arrives with disturbing news.

Several of Hoover’s books are also in various stages of film adaptation, including “Reminders of Him” and “Verity,” which is set to star Anne Hathaway.
