ATLANTA — A summer program in Atlanta that allows youth to earn money and explore career options has returned.
The City of Atlanta announced on Wednesday that registration has opened for the 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program, which connects Atlanta’s youth with real-world job placements.
Program participants not only get to build skills in industries like technology, healthcare, hospitality, government, and the arts, but they can also earn money by working for at least four weeks at up to $15 an hour.
“This year, we’re leveling up. Hundreds of employers are ready for you,” Mayor Andre Dickens said. “Make it a great opportunity to earn while you learn.”
According to the City of Atlanta, almost 6,000 young people participated in the Summer Youth Employment Program last year, with at least 38 participants transitioning from summer to permanent placement opportunities.
Atlanta residents between the ages of 14 and 24 are encouraged to apply, and placements in the program will begin in June and last for about 4 to 6 weeks.
Local businesses and organizations are also invited to participate as host employers, with city officials adding that becoming a participant helps “grow Atlanta’s talent pipeline while supporting the next generation of leaders.”
Officials say spots are limited. Youth and employers can register today at the SYEP website to learn more about eligibility, timelines, and next steps.
