Cough drops sold across the US recalled after FDA recommendation

WASHINGTON — A company based in China voluntarily recalled several cough drop products, according to the FDA.

Xiamen Kang Zhongyuan Biotechnology Co., Ltd., located in Xiamen, China, initiated the recall on March 20, 2026. The FDA classified the recall as Class II on April 10, 2026.

According to the agency, a Class II recall is “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

According to a report by the FDA, the recall was started following the FDA’s recommendation based on observations noted during an August 15, 2025, inspection of the manufacturing facility that “may bear on product quality.”

The FDA did not specify how many cough drops were under the recall.
