WASHINGTON — Nutella is rolling out its first new flavor in more than 60 years, marking a major shift for the iconic chocolate-hazelnut spread.
Nutella Peanut is now available nationwide, blending the brand’s signature creamy hazelnut spread with the taste of roasted peanuts. The launch of the peanut butter-like spread is the first flavor innovation since Nutella was introduced in 1964.
The new product comes after months of online buzz and growing demand from fans, according to parent company Ferrero.
“Nutella Peanut delivers the same creamy experience fans know and love, now blended with the irresistible taste of roasted peanuts,” said Noah Szporn, senior vice president of spreads for Ferrero North America. “Our fans have been asking for this for years. We heard them, and afternoon snack time will never be the same.”
The company says the new flavor is designed for easy spreading and is intended to elevate simple snacks like sandwiches and fruit dips.
To celebrate the launch, Nutella will host a pop-up experience in New York City on May 16 and 17. The event, located in the NoHo neighborhood, will feature games, themed prizes and free samples of Nutella Peanut products.
Nutella, which is sold in about 160 countries, has long relied on its original recipe as its flagship product. The introduction of a peanut-flavored version represents a rare expansion for the brand, which has instead typically focused on spin-off snacks like biscuits and ready-to-go packs in recent years.
Nutella Peanut is now available at major retailers across the United States.
