When asked, ChatGPT said it was fine, but parent company OpenAI confirmed service disruptions for a second day in a row.
WASHINGTON — For the second day in a row, users of the popular artificial intelligence program ChatGPT have reported service disruptions.
Parent company OpenAI confirmed the disruption on Wednesday morning in a message stating that “custom GPT updates are failing for users,” but said a fix had been implemented by 1 p.m. Eastern.
“We have applied the mitigation and are monitoring the recovery,” the company said in an update.
A spike in disruptions was reported around 12:30 p.m. ET on Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages, with more than 15,000 users submitting issues with the chatbot around that time.
The issues on Wednesday came less than 24 hours after another significant disruption to ChatGPT services.
More than 12,500 users flagged issues around 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, according to Downdetector.
OpenAI similarly acknowledged the issues Tuesday evening, citing “elevated error rates for finetuning jobs,” with “some users may experience issues loading or starting conversations.”
