Over 60,000 DR Power leaf vacuums recalled for laceration hazard

The leaf vacuums were sold nationwide and in Canada from Sept. 2014 through June 2025 for between $1,300 and $4,000.

WASHINGTON — More than 60,000 leaf vacuums were recalled after dozens of reports said loose pieces “ejected from the units” and posed laceration hazards.

DR Power Equipment voluntarily recalled various walk-behind and tow leaf vacuums, sold between Sept. 2014 through June 2025, due to a laceration hazard from material ejecting and possibly piercing the chute.

The recall, also issued Thursday, Jan. 8 by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is a reannouncement of a 2024 recall after the new reports. No injuries have been reported.

The recall urges people with these leaf vacuums to stop using them and contact DR Power for a free repair kit. They will provide a metal outer shield to be bolted onto the existing chute of the recalled leaf vacuums along with installation instructions. Find more information about the repair kit here.
