Popular cooking pan set recalled over risk of exploding metal caps

WASHINGTON — A popular cooking pan set that was sold for years at Costco, Walmart and Amazon is being recalled after reports of flying metal pieces causing injuries.

E Mishan & Sons is recalling about 740,000 Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel sauté pan sets due to a small metal cap that can violently eject from the pan when heated, posing impact and burn hazards to consumers.

The recall, issued April 2, covers two-piece sets containing 10-inch and 11.5-inch pans sold under the Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue label. The problem lies in the screw connecting the pan to its handle, where a metal cap on that screw can break loose and shoot off the pan during cooking.

The company says it is aware of at least 98 incidents in which the cap detached and ejected, including one report of a consumer suffering bruising and burn injuries.

Consumers who own the pans should stop using them immediately and contact E Mishan for a full refund. The company will ask that the pans be returned.

The sets were sold at Costco stores and online at Costco.com, Walmart.com and Amazon.com between August 2021 and February 2026 for approximately $40. The UPC number is 0-80313-08131-6.

To find out if your pans are part of the recall, look for the “Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue” branding on the product packaging or the pans themselves. If you purchased a two-piece stainless sauté pan set from any of the above retailers during that timeframe, there is a good chance it is included.
