For the first time, Puppy Bowl also includes a special exhibition event for senior dogs.
WASHINGTON — One of the cutest competitions of the year is back: Puppy Bowl 22.
The Puppy Bowl is a popular pre-Super Bowl event, featuring adoptable dogs from shelters across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands. The show encourages viewers to consider adopting from an animal shelter or rescue rather than a breeder.
This year’s three-hour broadcast showcases 150 dogs from 72 shelters.
Referee Dan Schachner is back again, too, for his 15th year.
For the first time, Puppy Bowl also includes a special exhibition event for senior dogs. Team Oldies and Team Goldies will face off during the halftime show.
The event will feature play-by-play commentary from sportscasters Steve Levy and Taylor Rocks, puppy cheer squads, kittens watching from a skybox, and DNA test results for each player.
The Puppy Bowl airs live at 2 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Feb. 8, and will simulcast on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, HBO Max and Discovery+.
