Brandi Carlile performed at the Super Bowl pregame show with a riveting rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
SANTA CLARA, Calif — Brandi Carlile used her stellar vocals Sunday to perform “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl LX pregame show in Santa Clara, where the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are facing off.
Carlile’s rendition brought her folk and Americana twist to the classic American patriotic song. She played a guitar while a cello and violin played behind her.
Carlile, who was born and raised in Ravensdale, Washington, is a highly acclaimed singer-songwriter, with 11 Grammy wins, two Emmy Awards and an Oscar nomination.
She is known for her powerful vocals and emotionally resonant performances, she has built a career that spans folk, rock and Americana. Her latest solo album, “Returning To Myself,” has been widely praised, following her recent collaboration with Elton John, “Who Believes in Angels?” which earned a Grammy nomination.
The song was also performed in American Sign Language by Julian Ortiz.


Charlie Puth performed the national anthem, Coco Jones sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and Green Day performed some of their original hits, like “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Holiday.”
Super Bowl LX kicks off around 6:30 p.m. ET, after all the pregame performances.
