Univision’s “Premios Juventud” Returns Reimagined with More Categories, More Nominees and More Emerging Artists than Ever

Anuel AA and Bad Bunny Were the Top Winners with Three Awards Each, Followed by Cardi B, Daddy Yankee, Karol G and Maluma Each Took Two Home

Set to Inspire, Motivate and Lead, Maluma and Jesse & Joy Were the First ever Artists in PJ History to Receive the “Agent of Change” Award for their Positive Impact on the Community

ATLANTA, GA– JULY 18, 2019 – Summer’s hottest night, Univision’s “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) just aired a four-hour live celebration of music and current trends in pop culture, digital media, fashion, TV and social media on the most bilingual show in its history. The 16th edition of “Premios Juventud” featured a record number of today’s most popular and emerging artists performing for the first time on this stage.

Hosted by Alejandra EspinozaLali and CNCO, the award show received over 1.5 million audience votes to decide tonight’s winners among 160 nominees in 24 brand new categories. The biggest winners of the night were Anuel AA and Bad Bunny, who took home three awards each, followed by Cardi BDaddy YankeeKarol G and Maluma with two apiece.

On a mission to inspire, motivate and lead change, “Premios Juventud” awarded “Agent of Change” recognitions for the first time to musical artists who are actively involved in the community and support organizations that bring hope and provide better opportunities to future generations. Maluma and Jesse & Joy were the first artists to receive this recognition for empowering young people to achieve their dreams and for their work protecting the environment and defending animal rights, respectively. Two young Latinos, Alondra Toledo and Carlos Osuna, were also honored with the prestigious trophy for their leadership and positive contributions to the community.

“This year’s ‘Premios Juventud’ featured the very best in Latin music and pop culture showcasing performances from global superstars, while providing a platform for young emerging artists,” said Ignacio Meyer, senior vice president for Entertainment and Music at Univision. “The show aims to entertain and empower new generations and through the ‘Agent of Change’ award, motivate them to leave their mark in the world and achieve positive change in society.”

“Premios Juventud” 2019 featured exclusive collaborations, worldwide premieres, exhilarating remixes and musical debuts. The live award show kicked off with the “PJ Takeover,” hosted by Borja VocesClarissa MolinaJomari Goyso. Performances included:

Este año Premios Juventud reconocerá la increíble labor de dos latinos que han puesto su granito de arena para hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor: el diseñador Carlos Osuna, quien con su línea de ropa para personas con discapacidades abre la brecha de la diversidad en la moda; y Aldo Amenta, activista que demuestra que las limitaciones físicas no son impedimento para triunfar.
