The 24th annual South Metro Development Outlook Conference is set to spotlight AI, transit and regional growth.
ATLANTA — More than 800 business leaders, developers, and policymakers are expected to gather on Wednesday for the South Metro Development Outlook Conference, one of the region’s longest-running forums focused on economic growth in south metro Atlanta.
Now in its 24th year, the conference brings together public and private sector leaders to discuss development across south metro — including transportation, housing, job creation and emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and data centers. The event spans multiple counties and highlights investment along key corridors stretching from the City of Atlanta through Clayton, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, and Henry counties.
This year’s speaker lineup includes executives from Georgia Power and Amazon, along with leaders connected to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, major transit projects, and preparations tied to the 2026 World Cup.
Conference founder and host Michael Hightower said the event was created to draw attention to an area that has historically been overlooked, but is now seeing rapid growth and increased investment.
“Before, there was a little attention to the South Metro area, but today it’s the place to be. It’s about bringing investment, new jobs, and other advancements,” Hightower said.
Organizers said the conference also places a strong emphasis on small businesses, offering sessions focused on access to capital, technical assistance, and networking opportunities with major employers and decision-makers shaping the region’s future.
