This was the second year for the 404 Day parade and its spanned a little more than a mile from Peachtree Street to Underground Atlanta.
ATLANTA — It was a celebration of everything Atlanta.
Crowds lined Peachtree Street Saturday morning for the annual 404 Day parade, where music, culture and community pride took center stage. From dancers in silver to people shouting “404,” the energy reflected the spirit of the city.
“As someone that’s from Atlanta, I love this city man with everything. It’s a dream come true. It feels unreal having your creation leading the 404 Day parade, like this is a national holiday to me,” said SOTA of 212 Boyz.
Throughout the parade, Atlantans proudly repped “the A”.
“One thing about Atlanta is that Atlanta sticks together and that’s why we’re out here. It’s beautiful out here, the kids are out here. We got food, we got everything out here man,” said DJ Infamous, an Atlanta personality.
The parade featured a wide range of performers, from rollerbladers to high school marching bands and step teams, all showcasing different pieces of Atlanta’s culture.
“This is our first time in the 404 Day parade. It feels amazing. The energy out here is crazy,” said Teresa Coles of the Southside Steppers.
The event also highlighted the diversity that makes up the city.
“The Caribbean community is here in Atlanta and we want to showcase that we’re here in Atlanta and we’re supporting Atlanta 404 Day because we are apart of 404 Day,” said Patricia Edigin with the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival.
This year’s grand marshals included Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and hip-hop icon Da Brat, who rode through the parade in a classic 1975 Caprice.
“We’re going to have Da Brat and the mayor in our backseats and it’s such an honor… Amazing. It’s a great experience,” said Gina Cassata of Baby Bird Automotive, who owns the car.
While some admired the vintage ride, others were just happy to take in the sights and sounds of the day.
“It’s my favorite car. My dad has a car like that,” said Tommy Thompson.
“The favorite part of it is because I like to see people dancing and a lot of cars, and a lot of music,” added Sa’moni Thompson.
A free block party was held at the end of the parade at Underground Atlanta.
