The hard candy mimics a cough drop and features three of Progresso’s most iconic soup flavors.
WASHINGTON — Progresso is bringing back its soup drops, the hard candy that tastes like chicken noodle soup.
The company announced the return of its limited-edition Soup Drops, featuring two new flavors. The soup drops will be available for a limited time during National Soup Month.
Progresso released the Soup Drops for the first time last year. The hard candies sold out in minutes last January, according to the soup brand.
“Cold and flu season sucks, and the only way to combat this time of year is with the flavors of Progresso — whether that’s in a comforting bowl or through the joy of soup you can suck on,” said Maria Carolina Comings, vice president and business unit director for Progresso at General Mills, in a statement. “This year, Progresso Soup Drops deliver more fun, more flavor and more comfort when you need it most.”
The Soup Drops went live Thursday, and more batches will be released each Thursday for the rest of the month, while supplies last.


The hard candy will be available in a $2.97 bundle, sold exclusively at Walmart. The bundle includes a variety can with individually wrapped Soup Drops in all three flavors and a can of Progresso chicken noodle soup.
Progresso describes the hard candies as “a feeling of warmth in your mouth, making every drop taste even more like a bowl of Progresso Soup.”

The return also arrives as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported more than 15 million cases of the the flu, with more expected to come throughout the winter.
