ATLANTA — New Birth Missionary Baptist Church announced its plans to open its doors on Friday night for a worship service due to impending winter weather hitting Georgia this weekend.
The church is not holding an in-person service on Sunday, but instead, will have a virtual-only service on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
On Friday, New Birth is holding an in-person service at 7 p.m. to “encourage one another and prepare our hearts for the weekend ahead.”
A Weather Impact Alert was issued earlier this week, and Gov. Kemp declared a State of Emergency on Thursday morning.
11Alive’s weather team has been reporting that in metro Atlanta, impacts are expected with over a quarter inch of ice. However, the greatest impacts will hit northeast Georgia, where over a half-inch of ice accumulation is expected.
